Tickets can be purchased online under quick links on the Piedmont High website. It’s $6 for students, and $8 for adults. No cash will be taken at the door.
This one-of-a-kind play will bring out a side of you that hasn’t been seen for some time.
The beginning of the show is not like our past productions. We wanted to give you the feeling of being in an actual circus; therefore, we decided to start Circus Olympus a little bit differently. From the first rehearsal practice, I wanted to try something that the audience wouldn’t expect. I believed that if we changed these few elements, it would overall boost the audience’s enjoyment.
Second, Circus Olympus is an ensemble-based show, excluding the five ring leaders of course. So, you may see many cast members play different roles after each scene. This is an aspect that again, is not seen in many productions. It gives cast members many opportunities in having an array of roles. Additionally, it allows us directors the choice to cast individuals based on their strengths and weaknesses. For example, I may have chosen one person for a character in one scene, but not in another. However, this was really hard for us directors to cast people, because so many individuals could play as one character. For me, personally, it was one of the most stressful parts of the show itself. I really had to think about not only a person individually, but the scene itself as a whole. I then thought about the individual’s audition, and also prior theater experiences to make a decision. Again, it gave me a headache.
Third, Circus Olympus is really, really funny. I can 100% hypothesize that you will laugh, or if that’s pushing it for you, smile during the show. With character interactions that will leave you astonished, like a character having a crush on another character, or all out fights going on within the stage, I’m telling you, you’ll want to be here. Also, many individual characters take up the spotlight themselves with their humor. But, just to warn you, expect a little dad humor to go along with it.
Now, after all these magnificent reasons behind why YOU should come watch Circus Olympus, I expect you to actually come, or else. JUST KIDDING, but I would really appreciate it if you did attend because I am really proud of our work. I promise you will not regret it, and if you do, too bad. JUST KIDDING AGAIN. But in all seriousness, I hope to see you come watch the circus that’s rolling into Piedmont High School.
