December 14, 2021
Basketball had its first event year in 1936. From there on, basketball has escalated into a famous sport. Over the years it’s gotten popular. Now there is a women’s and men’s NBA. Basketball creates a family bond between the players and coaches and creates memories. “I would say my favorite memories of coaching have been building the relationships with my former athletes and watching them grow through college and into their adult lives. I’ve been lucky to have coached some very talented athletes and watch them succeed on the court, but the best part is watching the way that they continue through life after high school ball,” Coach Jenson said.
Coaches always inspire the players to fulfill their dreams of being a part of basketball, and sometimes coaches will also inspire some of the players to become a coach. Coach Jenson said, “When I was a player, my coaches always told me that I had the mind of a coach. When I was in college, I was encouraged to start coaching and I think it all took off from there.” One of the players, Madi Grimland was interviewed and was asked what inspired her to start playing basketball. She said “I started watching it and played at school in middle school for fun. I enjoyed it so much more than the other sports I played.” She was also asked what she found enjoyable about basketball to keep pursuing it. She said, “I found the objective of the game and the IQ it takes to be able to play and score challenging and I love changes, also shooting is very fun.”
Close up Interview with Coach Jensen:
What made you want to coach basketball instead of other sports? Basketball has been my favorite sport for as long as I can remember, and from when I was a player, my coaches always told me that I had the mind of a coach. When I was in college, I was encouraged to start coaching and I think it all took off from there.
What do you like to be addressed as from the team overall? I would say my favorite memories of coaching have been building relationships with my former athletes and watching them grow through college and into their adult lives. I’ve been lucky to have coached some very talented athletes and watched them succeed on the court, but the best part is watching the way that they continue through life after high school ball.
