The Piedmont Prom Closet, started by several staff and students, will officially debut on April 3 in the Panther Room for anyone interested in browsing the elegant secondhand attire.

“The Prom Closet is for anyone that would like to go to prom,” said head organizer Tracy Sizemore. “Both ladies and gentlemen are welcome to shop during their lunch time. There are several beautiful dresses and several men’s suits to choose from. Prom attire is free, and students are welcome to keep the garment and accessories.”

Students who have any questions or want early access to all this closet has to offer can contact Sizemore or a guidance counselor for more information. Anyone with donations, both attire and accessories, should also reach out. “The Prom Closet is in need of prom accessories: earrings, necklaces, and prom shoes and socks for the gentlemen,” said Sizemore.

In addition to the prom closet, Piedmont also has a year round clothes closet located beside the auditorium in the old concession stand of the old gym.

“The clothing closet is for anyone in need,” said Sizemore. “Students are able to shop for jeans, t-shirts, jackets, and a few men’s tennis shoes. With warmer weather around the corner, the closet also offers shorts for both the guys and gals. Students can contact guidance for a stress free, personal, and confidential shopping spree.”

“Mrs. Sizemore, Mrs. Diedrick, and several students worked diligently on making both of these ‘closets’ a special, organized, and beautiful setting for our students to “shop” for clothes,” said school counselor Erica Henderson. “We appreciate all of their hard work and creativity!”
